Bespoke Yoga Studios
Yoga: Bespoke Practice in Bespoke Spaces
The wellness trend has been on the rise for a number of years now. Manifesting in an abundance of different ways, from lifting weights, being plant based, the progression of activewear and of course the yogi movement.
The increase in interest and demand for group yoga classes and spaces, has resulted in the emergence of new yoga studios, more specifically the bespoke yoga studio.
A practise that emphasises on the mind, body and soul being at one. The spaces in which one practices need relax the mind and offer little distractions for the participants. Therefore, designers have the challenge of optimising and creating unique spaces and studios which essentially stand as empty open rooms.
Architects and designers have overcome the constraints of the simple space, by experimenting and exploring with different elements. A common practice is to use wood and other natural materials to build the space. Playing with walls and structural elements. Adapting and optimising the lighting within the space to add dimension and depth all whilst maintaining the essence of calm and ambience.
All the elements enable one to be in a space where they can take part in yoga, although it may be questionable if a beautifully designed space, really effects practice and helps the mind, body and soul be at one.
